Was this supposed to be Studio 54?
A half-assed doc that dissects the evils of Mormonism. This one is all over the place.
Highlights include: dramatizations of mormon's secret temple rituals that make you a God, hand-drawn animation of the history of Mormons (and how they came from other planets), and bad actors pretending to be lawyers discussing mystical/indefensible aspects of Mormonism.
You'll also learn that a Mormon owns the Marriott hotel chain.
This movie feels like a throwback to SNL character films of the 90s. Spade was in a few of these with Chris Farley, so it’s a formula for that we’re familiar with.
I might’ve hated this movie, but watching this with family after Thanksgiving was lovely. Watching with family heightens all the awkward scenes into high cringe, which killed everyone.
It’s not a smart movie, but it’s persistent confidence in Lupkus character works. Her Missy character would have been welcome…
