Had to rewatch this now that Spacey is certifiably menacing. VERY different watching this & being old enough to connect with David Mills (more impact).
Although this one peaks higher at it's best moments than Zodiac, it's still the inferior picture of the two.

Was fascinated by how terrifying this was until De Niro turned into fucking Doodle Bob in the water.
Still great acting on his part. Scorsese's direction is almost unrecognizable here, but in a refreshing way. Felt like straight Hitchcock especially with Herrmann on the soundtrack.
I was almost upset that this wasn't even nominated for best picture until I remembered how you chose Forrest Gump over both Pulp Fiction and the Shawshank Redemption (1994), Crash over Brokeback Mountain (2005), Driving Miss Daisy over Do the Right Thing (1989), A Beautiful Mind over Mulholland Drive (2001), and even more recently Spotlight over both Room and The Revenant (2015), the list continues.
