Why would you give this movie anything but five stars? It's so stupid and so fun that only the most boring people would give it anything less. It's got so many fun elements: All the villains are reminiscent of the cadre of Power Rangers villains (as well as the opening guitar riff), it's got similar special effects to Blood Machines (at times. It's not a start to finish green screen extravaganza like BM is), and man it's just so funny.…
Well executed for sure. I like Natalia a lot as well as Timothy Simons and they're both great here in their awkwardness. It's just such an awkward movie throughout that it's hard to watch at times. It's definitely funny but also too real to be funny in moments. I definitely liked it but I'm 100% never watching this again hahaha
Also, fuck the church.
So I know they have to use the "big name" to sell a movie, but man is Sarah Paulson not the selling point in Run. She is good. She does her slightly over the top definitely off her rocker schtick extremely well here. But the star of the show is Kiera Allen. She is SO GOOD in this. I guess they called it Run because Kiera RUNS circles around all the other actors. And her presence feels really good for…
I didn't have a lot of feelings watching Save Yourselves. Like I didn't really laugh out loud, and I wasn't ever scared (not their goal though, clearly). But I was pretty endeared to Jack and Su. They were clearly good people doing their best and their best gets them...somewhere. The movie ends before they explain but it seemed like they'd be ok.
The whole movie felt just a little like when a teacher catches a student with their phone out…
It would be ridiculous to not start this review talking about Riz Ahmed. Sound of Metal is his movie. Not to take anything away from his support from Olivia Cooke or Paul Raci, but Riz takes us on this extremely emotional journey with him. He makes you feel Ruben's frustration in moments that could easily have been lost by a lesser actor. You feel his pride in his accomplishments, you feel the growing internal stillness he's able to cultivate. It's…
This movie snuck up on me. Period pieces don't generally appeal to me, add that it's about four sisters, a life experience I have not even come close to having, Little Women was on my radar simply because of the cast and writer/director Greta Gerwig. I totally loved Lady Bird and I figured that despite it not exactly seeming like my type of movie I should see Little Women.
Boy, what a total idiot I am. I fell absolutely in…
