Ian Grimm’s review published on Letterboxd:
Just watched it for a second time. Not all of it adds up but I realized that's kind of the beauty and the flaw in the movie. It's not the same old cut and paste superhero movie. And the film has a real genuine heart at its core. But it has to do a lot and runs into some "Iron Man 2" problems in maybe stuffing three or four too many characters in the narrative. The weird thing is - one of those characters is Superman. BVS feels of an almost entirely different piece from its predecessor "Man Of Steel". And in a lot of ways WB/DC might have been better served without the existence of that film. Seeing BVS for a second time and imagining it without the baggage of "Man Of Steel" helped me a lot. You focus on the other things: Batman, Wonder Woman, the formation of the justice league, even Lex Luthor. Honestly the story is more Lois' than a Clark/Superman narrative. And don't get me wrong - I'm still far more positive than negative about this flick. I like films that take big swings - even if they don't always connect. Any movie that has a premonition hidden in a dream, Ezra Miller as The Flash, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman deserves praise.
