The Rise of Skywalker is certainly flawed, and it’s a step down in quality from TLJ, and even TFA... I had fun nonetheless. It’s far from my least favorite Star Wars movie.... but even still, the pacing is a bit relentless. Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley carry this movie.
I feel like its title doesn't do it any favors, but that could just be me. Regardless, everyone said it was awesome so I thought I'd give it a shot. As it turns out they were right, it was fantastic. Miles Tellers is awesome. That guy can really drum, which adds a level of authenticity to those intense drum scenes. JK Simmons is hilarious and terrifying and brilliant all at once, as is standard for that guy. Perfect casting all around. It's like a sports movie about music.
10 Cloverfield Lane is a pretty cool little movie, which I doubt anyone expected too much out of. It's an interesting and creative way to continue the franchise. Instead of doing what normal sequels (or whatever this is considered) do and make the second installment massive and bloated, it does something else entirely... It goes smaller the second time around.. And it works great. Mary Elizabeth Winstead needs to be in more. John Goodman is also pretty fantastic in this movie. Go see it.
