Mikey Brzezinski’s review published on Letterboxd:
Zemeckis on a roll of making some really misguided decisions in his career. I was excited for this because Zemeckis really does have what it takes to adapt Dahl's work into a vibrant, eclectic and expressively cinematic piece of work in the level of Roeg's film but with totally different goals in mind. Instead the man gets caught up in the technology of the film without any really mind to make it feel like it has a pulse underneath the superficialness. He captures all the quirk and surrealism without making sure the core of Dahl is intact to make it stick out and feel fresh. Anne Hathaway absolutely slaps in this though and I continue to stan her to death.
