Man what a refreshing horror flick, legitimately had me guessing all the way till the end. Might be just a little too obtuse but could also just be me being exhausted af (goddamn techtober).
Super unique and good god 10/10 sound design.

Fuck me I just love big budget expensive sci-fi epic so much. Less of an introspective journey than 2049 and just filled with so much grandiose.
The cast, score, cinematography and sheer scale of everything is just mindblowing. This needs to be seen on the biggest screen and loudest speakers you can. 150 minutes just flew by and I didn’t check my watch once throughout the entire thing.
The only criticisms I have is that:
    1) I definitely felt like Roger Deakins was…

    Squid Game

This would’ve been absolutely top tier if it wasn’t for episode 7 and 9…
Everything about this show was spectacular and the marble game was one of the best episode of television I’ve watched this year.
Like…those white Americans in episode 7…why? And the finale? The way it became so cartoonishly improbable and so impossible to take seriously? I still liked a lot of this but god do I hate it when I watch shows that can’t seem to end properly.

It’s close, but I think this is Flanagan’s best work so far. Helps a lot that he finally made something without the weird blue/green filter he has in all his other stuffs.
Man this was so fucking great.
His usual casts are fucking ace as per usual (with some brilliant new faces). It’s shot so well and might be the freshest modern take on this mystical creature I’ve seen in a while.
Fell short from being truly incredible just because of how long it felt made worse by the fact that there’s truly loooong monologues in every episode.

Way better than I remember! A little front loaded for sure but man Greene is a fantastic Bond villain and this movie has some of my favourite quick cuts action scenes ever. Just brilliantly edited.

  • Old

    ★★

Conceptually idk this is interesting. Always love a movie that plays with time. But Old….this just really didn’t work.
On a technical level, it’s just really all over the damn place. Sometimes Shyamalan does really cool unique stuff and sometimes it just looks stupid.
But the writing lmfao. I do not pity the cast given this material to work on. It’s borderline comedy and the only reason I didn’t rate this lower. Absolutely hysterical, highly recommend.
