    Spirited Away

What a magical and timeless journey! It has been a longtime favorite of mine, which I have watched many times before. I wanted to write a long review about all the aspects which make this movie so special to me, but I don't think that any amount of words can do it justice. It is simply a perfect movie for me, which achieves everything that I love about the art of animation and cinema. I can now easily say that Spirited Away is my favorite film of all time, and I don't think that it will change any time soon.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Well, at least we have The Mandalorian...

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Constantly subverting expectations does not a good movie make.

    Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Still perfectly watchable and fun, even though it is completely safe and lacking creativity.

  • First Man

    First Man

Since I absolutely adored Damien Chazelle's previous films Whiplash and La La Land, I was really looking forward to watching First Man. And while I liked the movie overall, and I admired a lot of things about it, I was still left somewhat dissapointed.

Starting with positives, I was really impressed with film's technical aspects. It had very grainy and dirty look, which made it feel very authentic for the time period it was depicting. It really felt like I…

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi

I honestly don't know what to say about The Last Jedi. While I enjoyed it somewhat overall (the acting was great all around, special effects and action scenes were spectacular and some sequences in this film are truly stunning and some of the best in all of the Star Wars saga), I still was very dissapointed by what I saw and it is quite sad that this movie really doesn't break any new ground in almost any way in terms…

  • Wonder Woman

    Wonder Woman

Oh DC, you magnificient bastard, you actually did it. You have finally made a genuinely good movie, after so much disappointment before it. Wonder Woman not only works as an outstanding origin story for one of the all-time greatest superheroes, but also as an effective war drama and an old-fashioned romance film. It is also a first great female-led superhero movie, which is truly an achievement for many reasons.

Gal Gadot is just perfect as Wonder Woman. She was one…

  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Initially I was skeptical about the idea of the spin-offs in the Star Wars universe, since I thought that they would be quite unnecessary to the overall mythology. But, I was pleasantly surprised by Rogue One and found it to be solidly engaging, visually stunning and surprisingly mature. It honestly might be the darkest Star Wars movie ever. Even darker than Revenge of the Sith. I admire Gareth Edwards and his crew for taking such big risks, especially for our…

  • Batman: The Killing Joke

    Batman: The Killing Joke

The original The Killing Joke graphic novel is one of the all-time greatest Batman stories and a definitive story of the Joker, and after I heard that it was being adapted into the animated movie by Bruce Timm and will feature Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill - the definitive Batman and Joker in animation, I was excited beyond belief. After I saw the first trailer, I was a little bit worried, because of the animation quality, but I still remained…

  • All Star Superman

    All Star Superman

The original All-Star Superman comic book series by Grant Morrison, just might be the best depiction of Superman I have seen in any media. And after just finishing reading it, I was curious to check out the animated adaptation of it.

Although it's not bad, there is nothing particularly special about it. Unfortunately, many key parts of the book got cut, and the overall approach to the story is very superficial and shallow. It was cool to see the moments…

So much better than Batman v Superman.
