Journey to the Center of the Earth

The Good: James Mason! And a lead female character who is not busy being damsel in distress all the freaking time, is much more reasonable than the men AND doesn't take shit from anyone. James Mason! Gertrud!

The Bad: Casual sexism. Hilariously bad special effects and sets that look like they're made for Star Trek. The wrong people taking their shirts off all the time. -__-

The Ugly: GERTRUD! Still not over it.

    The Reckless Moment

The Good: Joan Bennett truly owns this quiet low key film noir where the femme fatal is anything but fatal.
James Mason is a gift of the cinema gods.
Max Ophüls brings a subtle continental style to this very American film.

The Bad: The pacing is quiet weird sometimes and the ending feels quiet rushed.

The Ugly: Men who try to tell women what to do.

    Vincent Price is a gift.

    Confessions of an Opium Eater

    The Good: Vincent Price.

The Bad: It's nothing like the book. It's like the writers went: Plot? What Plot?
Vincent Price isn't good at doing his own stunts. Sorry Vincent, I still love you though.

The ugly: Casual racism in 1960s films.
