FILM PRODUCER & DIRECTOR
I'm a big fan of this film. It's Carpenter's meta film on his opus. Kind of.
It's ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 meets THE THING meets ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, but on Mars!
Pretty much over the top with it's cheesy scenes and tongue in cheek humor.
Good atmosphere, nice storytelling in non linear way, solid cast, cool characters, lots of action...
Natasha Henstridge rocks. Jason Statham in one of his best roles, although he is a supporting character.
A classic 80s low budget monster movie, with heart in good place, with some descent scenes and ideas, but pretty boring all in all.
Daniel Stern and John Heard are very good in their leading roles, and monsters are not bad at all, but there are some very stupid scenes, some characters do thing no one would ever do, and there is lame sequence in which one of the monsters attacks Heard's wife. That sequence should have been cut out.…
Well, it's my movie and I think it's awesome.
I have watched it again after a while. Still pretty cool to me.
First third of the movie is so-so, but when the action starts it's fun all the time.
Classic cheesy B-lines and macho buddy buddy scenes... Just priceless.
Check it out, it's old school zombie stuff, with lots of Assault on Precinct 13 references.
And Ken Foree of "Dawn of the Dead" is badass!
