The Irishman

The Irishman ★★★★½

The silence of a daughter scorned is more deafening, effective, and affective than any dialogue she could have been given. The use of silence in the film is really what made it for me. Frank’s forced calm as he tries to hold back his tears, Jo’s panic in thinking that death has come for her as she slowly turns the key, and the silence of loneliness when we meet our final hour.
