Sara Clements’s review published on Letterboxd:
Us is a film that will definitely be enhanced by a second viewing in order for me to find appreciation in the execution of a chilling tapestry of themes: fear of the other, the monster within, suppression and privilege. It poses many questions that make the audience look deep within themselves. It’s so heavy thematically that it falters narratively with plot holes and a twist that was obvious from the first act. Us made me miss the experience of watching a film with a twist that is just so shocking and surprising that you can’t think about anything else for months and months afterwards. But, is Jordan Peele’s latest a good horror film? Definitely. It’s creepy, it’s scary, it’s bloody, has tons of action, and a perfect score. Everything I look for in a slasher. It’s also visually wondrous, has some genuinely funny comedy, and amazing performances all around. I just hope I’ll be able to see it as spectacular the next time I watch it.
