    I can see why France censored this film because it presents a perspective of the French colonial invasion in Senegal that they are desperate to cover up. Looking forward to watching more of Sembene’s films so I can learn about the true atrocities committed by France when they colonized West Africa, and not the white washed version I grew up with.

    This film introduced me to Agnes’ story and also made me reflect on so many deeper questions. I loved being able to follow along the process of discovering a trove of archival and the way they brought the newly discovered interviews to life.

    I worked on this film as an assistant editor. It was such a horrible experience that I nearly considered leaving the film industry.

    The film as a whole sorely lacks vision. The transitions between the different sections are jarring, starting with the modern COVID era footage going into Fauci’s childhood.
