Dave Bowman: Hello, HAL. Do you read me, HAL?
HAL: Affirmative, Dave. I read you.
Dave Bowman: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
HAL: I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Dave Bowman: What's the problem?
HAL: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Dave Bowman: What are you talking about, HAL?
HAL: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
Dave Bowman: I don't know what you're talking about, HAL.
HAL: I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.
Dave Bowman: [feigning ignorance] Where the hell did you get that idea, HAL?
HAL: Dave, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.
Dave Bowman: Alright, HAL. I'll go in through the emergency airlock.
HAL: Without your space helmet, Dave? You're going to find that rather difficult.
Dave Bowman: HAL, I won't argue with you anymore! Open the doors!
HAL: Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

Now, after being speechless for a long time, i would like to deliver a few words on this masterpiece of a filmmaking.

When I sat to watch 2001 from the moment the music starts I don't know where I am. This masterpiece has a power that can make you forget that there are many other movies except this one. When this movie finishes I tell to myself, is there any movie that can match this masterpiece? Seriously, I don't think there is.

When you present a movie like this which visually stunning and makes you pinch yourself every five minutes to tell you that you are watching a movie and yes this movie was made in 1968, and no CGI was used. How CGI can be used at that time, it is just a pure creation of mind which is beyond everybody.

Stanley Kubrick, A visionary filmmaker whose work is just another dimensional. You can't compete with that. Interstellar is just an atom from it. Gravity can't even come close to this.

The movie is told in four section's and I will try my own interpretation for each one. CAUTION. This is just how I look at the movie and how I see the story goes.

The Dawn of Man

The Dawn of Man, tell us how Ape Man survived in this world and how he marked his stand and defended himself. The story starts with an cheetah killing one of the Ape man then after some other tribe of Ape Men some and mark their land for water and dismiss the current tribe. So, the defeated tribe sleep in the holes of rock and when the get up there is black Monolith standing there, they touch it. After that one of the Ape Man finds a skeleton and takes one the bone and starts to beat it on the ground. Here is an evolution for the Ape Men. They discovered to defend themselves. So, they go back to their land and kill their leader and reclaim it.

TMA-1

This section of story is mostly about the discovery of the Black Monolith on the moon and Dr.Floyd has came to investigate it. When the team who found it and Dr.Floyd go and investigate the Monolith, a high pitched signal comes out from the Monolith.

Jupiter Mission

18 months later, a spacecraft is being sent to Jupiter to investigate the signals receiving from the Monolith. Here in the ship, there are two pilots and three scientists who are in hibernation and HAL 9000 the ships computer. HAL is in suspect of the mission's secrecy but Dave tells him there is nothing like it. Soon HAL reports there is an Antenna which will fail in 72 hours. But when the two pilots can't find any problem in it, they try to suspect that there is an error in HAL. But HAL is firm on his decision and tell them there is an Human Error. So, Dave and Frank first try to replace the unit by HAL's suggestion and if HAL is wrong they will disconnect him. When Frank is trying to replace the unit, HAL removes his oxygen pipe while Dave thinks it was accident he goes out in the pod to rescue him without his helmet, HAL disconnects all the entry points connected with him. But Dave enters the ship via Manual door and disconnects HAL for good. And that is when a message from Dr,Floyd is played.

Dr. Floyd: [prerecorded message speaking through TV on board Discovery while Bowman looks on] Good day, gentlemen. This is a prerecorded briefing made prior to your departure and which for security reasons of the highest importance has been known on board during the mission only by your H-A-L 9000 computer. Now that you are in Jupiter's space and the entire crew is revived it can be told to you. Eighteen months ago the first evidence of intelligent life off the Earth was discovered. It was buried 40 feet below the lunar surface near the crater Tycho. Except for a single very powerful radio emission aimed at Jupiter the four-million year old black monolith has remained completely inert. Its origin and purpose are still a total mystery.

Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite

Dave leaves the ship in a pod and passes through the infinite light. He is traveling at a huge speed. We can even see how terrified he is. His eyes are changing it's color with the lights passing through. He stops at a point where he is a little old. He see a room from his pod. We see him standing in that room, suddenly he is elderly man eating his dinner, he drops his glass and we see him in his bed very old and the Black Monolith appears and as soon as he tries to touch it he becomes a baby in orb gazing towards earth..

We can interpret many things about the Black Monolith, we can say that it is the stone of human evolution, or a another world is trying to send us a signal of their existence. As the movie has told us that it is a mystery what the stone is. So I think we should keep that mystery with us.

There is a question asked to Dave about HAL having true emotions like Humans, and he answers, Well, he acts like he has genuine emotions. Um, of course he's programmed that way to make it easier for us to talk to him. But as to whether he has real feelings is something I don't think anyone can truthfully answer. But when he feels threatened of being disconnected he tries to defend himself. I think he had emotions.

And the scene when Dave is passing through the colored lights is juts another dimension of beauty. Every color and every ray passing through is phenomenal.

And the music is just beyond legendary. And the the no sound in space was just pure masterpiece.

I don't how the fuck Academy Award didn't give this movie the Best Picture , Director and the Best Score. It Fucking deserved it. And they instead gave it to Oliver! Seriously!. This was the time I lost my faith in awards. How does Gravity wins the Best Director and Score at Academy and 2001 doesn't is just a mystery like the Black Monolith. And also as per HAL I call it Human Error.

HAL: It can only be attributable to human error.
