  definitely watch this in cinema if you can. can safely say this having now watched it once in cinema and once at home. 
  i think this movie is definitely not a thinking movie, even if it is a classic and lots of people have thought and written about it. you just have to watch and feel everything kubrick is giving you. which in a way is not the story.

  i’m conflicted because i liked a lot of things about this but the romance plot is just completely superficial/unnecessary to me (also the age gap is 100% weird… my sister thinks Shinkai was trying to do a Howl-style romance/dynamic, but eh)
  definitely better than weathering with you but not quite as magical as your name?
  also the 3d cg animation was a bit too .. 3d sometimes? but it was also so beautiful, don’t get me wrong
