I cannot express how little I cared about this movie while watching it. First of all, the entire thing was so predictable. This is what I guessed 5 minutes into the movie: this dude loves dancing and he expresses himself through this form of art. He starts rebelling against the law and all the other highschool students start thinking he is a cool dude and start agreeing with him. And then, of course, there is the love interest who has…
The opening scene was impressive because it had good lighting. After that the lighting went to shit. I have no idea what happened. Did they spend all of their money on the first scene?... anyway, it doesn't really matter. It's not like I watch Saw because of the cinematography. I watch it because of the reveals. The reveal in this one was not as good as in the first one but it was still unpredictable. I enjoyed myself.
I feel completely overwhelmed by this film. I had no idea what it was about. When I saw this film all I knew was that it was directed by Park Chan-wook. That, for me, was reason enough to watch it. I am so glad I saw this movie without knowing anything. Witnessing the way the plot unfolds without any fore knowledge gives the viewer a completely new experience. One feels that they are finding out everything along with the incredibly well developed characters.
I was left speechless. I really don't know what to say other than this movie is perfect and a complete masterpiece.
