A Star Is Born 1954
Judy Garland literally 1) gave everything she had in that 20-min “Born in a Trunk” musical sequence and 2) gave one of the most moving dramatic monologues in the history of film paralleling her own struggles with addiction and self-destruction. She gave everything, and she did that for us. What more could she have done for that Oscar? One of the worst Oscar robberies in history.
