it's a shame this film kind of gets boiled down to its iconic boom box moment when its so much bigger and deeper than that—but also it's a great scene, so makes sense

this is one of the very best coming-of-age dramas with punch-after-punch of emotionally resonant scenes. it's lighthearted but still so meaningful as two recent graduates navigate themselves and each other before departing into the great real world. we all deserve a Lloyd Dobler—someone who so earnestly and throughly celebrates us, championing our greatness, even when we aren't at our best. and we're all a little like Diane Court—scared to be known, shy to be seen, anxious to be understood. it's hard not to fall in love with them. goddammit, where is THIS Cameron Crowe???

the end scene sums up the entire movie perfectly, too, but its nuances and complexities can only be appreciated right where it comes for both characters. holding our breath for that ding, hoping and relying on one another for reassurance that yes, everything's going to be okay—that's love, that's love, that's love

you're such a great person, Lloyd. I'm a good person, but you're a great person.
