    Solo: A Star Wars Story

    ★★★

I'm an unabashed huge fan of everything Lord/Miller have ever done. The announcement that they were doing a Star War was exciting, and the entire drama that unfolded was deflating. Then there was Last Jedi, which somewhat ... blunted, I guess, my desire to see another Star War.

    Thor: Ragnarok

    ★★★★

The spirit of Guardians of the Galaxy takes over one of the more self-serious streams of the Marvel-verse, and our world is better for it.

    Captain America: Civil War

    ★★★½

About 45 minutes too long, and oddly, all the excess was towards the beginning. Where many of these tend to drag through the second act and ending, CW could have jumped to the aftermath of the Vienna bombing as a teaser and lost almost nothing.

Everything else - set pieces, character work, larger worldbuilding - was top notch, and the airport battle was a fantastic ten minutes that they had been building to over a few MCU movies.

    Chris Evans…
