Ranking the Alien Films

I re-watched every Alien movie. I've seen the first two Alien movies several times, they're two of my favorite movies. Alien3 and Resurrection I only saw once, and was anxious to revisit them.

I included the AVP series, as I remember seeing the original AVP when I was 14 and I enjoyed it then, but never saw the sequel. They aern't canon, they make no sense included in the Alien timeline, but why not include them.

  • Alien

A beautiful movie, from start to finish. Eerie, unsettling, and wonderfully acted. Alien plunged us into a world of terror unlike no other.

  • Aliens

I like the original Alien movie only a fraction more than Aliens. What Aliens lacks in horror, it makes up for with stellar action. It also adds relationships between Ripley and Newt, and Ripley and Bishop, quite unlike any relationships Ripley had in the first film.

  • Alien: Covenant

    3.Alien: Covenant

More terrifying than Prometheus, featuring one of the best villainous role in years in David, it lacks in answers, poses more questions, and has some plotting issues, but is as entertaining as it should be

  • Prometheus

Prometheus asks way to many questions, with too few answers, and some dumb moments, but it does it with striking visuals, and much horror. It also introduces several memorable characters in David, Meredith Vickers, and Janek.

  • Alien Resurrection

    5.Alien Resurrection

There is enough interesting things going on in this film to make up for the fact that they ruined the character of Ripley.

  • AVP: Alien vs. Predator

    6.AVP: Alien vs. Predator

A Guilty pleasure. It might have convoluted plot, bad dialogue, and terrible acting, but it has just enough scares, and Alien vs. Predator action with some faithfulness to the originals, that it enters so bad it's good territory.

  • Alien³

The notes for this list item reportedly contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I will never forgive this movie for killing Newt and Bishop, what follows isn't outright bad, but it's sadly just boring.

  • Aliens vs Predator: Requiem

    8.Aliens vs Predator: Requiem

A B-movie to the highest degree, Horrible acting, dialogue, plot, and characters. It seems to be made with the sole intent to try and do things other Alien movies hadn't done before, such as infect pregnant women, and killing kids, for "fun".
