Guess I’ll be watching every movie Kitty Green directs. Simmers perfectly.

    Sort of a kaiju movie?

If you’re catching this now, I’d recommend only watching the episodes Miyazaki was involved in. Somehow the quality of every element dips after that - the animation, writing… everything. The first half is really worth seeing, though.

The sound design absolutely rips. Creepypasta Zodiac, and your mileage will vary depending on how you feel about either of those things. James Badge Dale is sneakily very funny here.

There are more obvious pairings, but this and Tumbbad (2018) would be a great double feature.

Even if you don’t like it overall, it still works as an enjoyable Disney-themed scavenger hunt. Frozen already did the self-parody animal companion thing, so I wish they had passed on that in favor of having a single side companion: the star.

While Sherlock Jr is my favorite, this one is the best comfort watch of Buster’s films. It’s a bit longer, a bit more meandering, and is relatively cheerful throughout. For example, I wouldn’t say his detour through a stage magic show during a cyclone was critical to the plot, but all the bits were gold and I’m glad they’re there.
