Thank you emerald fennel for somehow managing to bottle up the collective rage of every woman who has been victimized, abused, etc by a man, and releasing it it into this electric powerhouse of a film. Hitchcockian, explosive, and refreshingly girly, she balances the tones effortlessly and masterfully. I was already in love when it opened with the boys by charlie xcx remix, and in complete, overwhelmed awe when that gorgeous instrumental of britney spears’ toxic ushered in that unbelievable final act. carey felt born to play this role, and I loved the framing of Cassy as this god-like, heroic figure. It’s what’s she deserves.
