Molokidan’s review published on Letterboxd:
Laughably silly and ridiculously violent from start to finish, which is exactly why I watch anime. VHD is never boring, and it's delightful how quickly the story moves. At least two characters commit betrayals and get their just desserts in under 5 minutes. The story is basically an NES game, but it never tries to appear like something it's not. One of my favorite parts is when D first storms the castle, and there are all these super gross mutants just hanging out in the hallway. When I first saw this when I was 10, I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
