Film #28 of Shocktober17
I am so happy to say that Cult of Chucky is good fun. There's many familiar faces on display here, and Jennifer Tilly has a larger role in this movie than Curse (it's not huge, but she's in more than one scene!). They revive the character of Andy which was a nice touch as well.
The majority of the movie is spent following Nica as she is dealing with her life in a mental hospital, following the events of Curse, after a Good Guy doll is brought to the hospital as a gift to her. Along the way several more Good Guy dolls show up.
It's tongue-and-cheek and highly enjoyable. The kills were surprisingly gory and awesome. Fiona Dourif looks eerily like her father in some scenes which, probably intentionally, work really well especially towards the end of the movie. Some of the effects aren't the greatest and Chucky's movement looks very stiff but it's sorta to be expected and I didn't have a huge problem with it.
If you liked Curse of Chucky, you will probably enjoy this as well!
