    I remember watching this as pre-teen with my parents upon its first home video release and it scared the hell out of me. 

    It may be a Tobe Hooper film but this has all the trademarks of Spielberg and, in truth, feels more like one of his than Hooper’s. Will we ever truly know?

    Another film I have not seen in over 25 years and I imagine I was a bit underwhelmed when I first saw it. Everyone knows about the exploding head and as a young horror fan I was probably expecting a lot more of that sort of thing, which of course there isn’t.

    Straight off the bat, if people start saying well it’s no Kubrick or Scorsese etc then I will read no further. It is an Adam Sandler film on Netflix. Does that give it a pass from criticism, of course not but use some perspective.

    Sandler once again employs the underdog character with a heart of gold. Hubie is bullied by everyone in town, both adults and children. He has a speech impediment and may not be the sharpest tool in the box…
