MooseMeister’s review published on Letterboxd:
Keanu Reeves is very good in the title role as stoic, measured (well, initially, at least) but capable man on revenge. As an action thriller it is more subtle and nuanced that the average in this genre. Sure, John Wick drops the bad guys in large numbers Arnold-style (although he is certainly no a model citizen either) and there is a somewhat strange fetish on drifting in muscle cars. But the director and/or DP had fun with the lighting in almost all the scenes. Also some scenes have an almost otherworldly feel to it, like hotels with very exclusive attendance, its own currency and strange rules (reminded me of "Blade" in a way) and a very broad range of room services (like personal surgeons).
Very entertaining from beginning to end.
