Inferno ★★★

It’s Suspiria but slower, more cryptic, less interesting, and with less memorable moments. There’s one standout sequence that uses alternating noise and silence, light and dark to unsettling effect, and Argento’s use of color is gorgeous as expected. But most of Inferno just felt empty and unmoored from any characters to root for, mysteries to uncover, horrors to fear. However the movie made me appreciate Suspiria more, so that’s a plus.
