Magic Mike ★★★½

Any film where a tiny pig capers hilariously in the background of the most serious dramatic scene gets a pass from me, even if this suffers from the style-over-substance thing I can never quite get over in Soderbergh films.

McConaughey is excellent and Channing Tatum's dancing is brilliant - plus the bit where his character is drunk and acts surprised by a tree is a really great little moment - but 'The Kid' and his sister both seem like half-sketched characters that don't do anything other than follow the line from the start of the script to the end.
