“You’re starting to sound like some Wes Carpenter flick or something”
It doesn’t matter if you know each twist or have seen it before, Scream still absolutely hits as one of the great slasher films. Frankly it might be even better in rewatch. It’s extremely 90s, in the best way it could be, the irony laced referential dialogue, homages and intentionally on the nose humour it just all WORKS. Sidney is such a solid protagonist and ‘final girl’, Neve Campbell is SO good and makes Sidney such a well rounded character in a style of horror film that doesn’t always get well rounded characters.
The more horror you have seen, especially 80s slashers the more you get out of this film from the references to the twists of the story. Personally, of all the homages and tributes, the soundtrack use of Halloween is my favourite, if you can use the Halloween score in your scary movie of course you would!!
