Damn. I see why Mark Ruffalo got the Emmy for this.
I've never really been a fan of period dramas and I also never really got into Louisa May Alcott so maybe that's why I felt a little cold throughout this movie? I have been seeing rapturous reviews for this so I prepared to give it a chance and be pleasantly surprised (which is what happened after I saw Lady Bird) but after Little Women ended I felt like, "oh okay that's fine."
I guess I am just tired of period…
Denzel Washington ate this role. I know a lot of people are mad that he got the Oscar playing a crooked cop and not for Malcolm X but y'all...this was an Oscar-winning role. He just completely fills up the screen and embodies this role. And we all still quote this movie damn near 20 years later.
