Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★½

NON-SPOILER REVIEW! So I was extremely lucky enough to just get tickets for this for The Sundance Film Festival which I was really grateful for. Overall this movie was really good and enjoyable but there were a few things that could’ve been better. As usual I’ll start with the things that could’ve been better. The main thing was that the second act was really slow and since this was a late movie I almost fell asleep during it but managed to stay awake. Probably there was only one more small thing which was the trailer made it look like this was going to be an A+ movie but it wasn’t so it kind of let me down but it was still really good. Now for the things that I did enjoy. First off the first act started off really strong and that was what kept me entertained throughout the rest of the movie. Next is something that some people wouldn’t like but I liked was that this movie stressed me out so much but I did like that. Probably one of my most favorite things and what only some movies do that I like is the message was so powerful and for a movie like this I was surprised. When you would hear the speeches you can’t help but chant with them. Than finally probably the obvious favorite thing was the performances. The performances were spot on. I would probably say this was Kaluuya’s best performance, it was really close to his Get Out performance but I think this one was better. For Stanfield’s performance I think his Get Out performance is still my favorite but he was definitely good in this one also. So in my opinion if you want to watch this, if you’re still not sure about going back to the movies watch it on HBO Max this movie doesn’t have to be watched in theaters, but if you want to go see it in theaters go see it, to be honest I’ll probably see it in theaters just so I can experience it there. So for this type of movie it had such a strong message with a great storyline and amazing acting and this is a HIGHLY RECOMMEND MOVIE 👍👍 Judas and the Black Messiah hits theaters and HBO Max February 12th!
