Christopher Lutz’s review published on Letterboxd:
I haven't seen all the films of either John Hughes or John Candy, but the ones I've seen are all quality works. Count Uncle Buck among those movies: in the spirit of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles this story balances comedy and seriousness while feeling very true to life as only John Hughes films can.
John Candy must have been such a kind person in real life. He effortlessly brought immense heart and compassion to many of his on-screen characters. It's why he's so loved by audiences to this day. Uncle Buck learns to find these qualities in himself when he is asked to watch his nieces and nephew while the parents are out of town. It's a touching story filled with laughs and tender moments. Glad I found it.
