    I still think this is an underrated genre film, unfairly lumped in with the underwhelming American Godzilla efforts and abysmal Transformers movies. Del Toro's a damn artist who's playing with really cool toys. So you get big, exciting monster vs robots fights, done by someone who (like me) remembers growing up being delighted by such concepts (and also like me still thinks it's pretty awesome).

    Much better than I'd expected, but I had forgotten till the end credits that Tom McCarthy directed. The Station Agent is really good, y'know?

    I've read Stephan Pastis's Timmy Failure series to my daughter, to our mutual delight. A very nice adaptation, modifying some secondary characters to a recognizable cinematic form, and not to any detriment. I didn't think a live-action adaptation would work in the least, but Tom McCarthy.

    One of my very favorite movies for years and years now. Rewatched the '92 director's cut, because I can't take the voice over anymore. I never liked the Deckard-is-a-replicant-sike! aspect of this and the Final Cut (which I still haven't seen), so I find the unicorn sequence really out of place in an otherwise otherworldly (off-worldly), jaw-dropping movie.
