As should be expected, Onward is another excellent entry into Pixar's lineup. It blends laughs and emotion with just as perfect a balance as one could hope for. What adds to the charm is the focus on sibling relationships, which are often overlooked in film in favor of parental storylines. The bond between the two brothers was relatable and powerful, and definitely tugged on this proud older brother's heartstrings.
If there's anything to complain about it would be a small section in the middle of act two. Just when the twists on the world stop being funny, the film drags for a short while. However, soon enough it picks up again and careens towards an emotionally satisfying conclusion with renewed focus, making this only a minor quibble.
If you're looking for a fun and emotional piece of family fare, Onward is a fantastic choice.
