Creaks a lot by the end, and is clearly lacking the Weinstein level bankroll that has made Tarantino's genre wanking so enjoyable, but say what you will, this is 100% Wright. His eye (and ear) for this brand of rapid edit filmmaking is as second nature as breathing.
Upgraded since last viewing. What stood out this time was just how economical this picture is... Carpenter packs a hell of a lot into 90 minutes, even with that absurdly drawn out fight scene. A Western at heart, but also an ingenious bit of pulp sci-fi that deserves canon recognition.
