    I’m thankful for Steven Soderburgh’s Ocean’s Twelve (2004)

    Blood Rage

A fun blend of Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Sisters. The “chase” is underwhelming and makes it lose some steam, but overall the ironic premise offers plenty of fun mix ups, extended 80s young adult hangout sessions, and some really terrific gore effects. Always been searching for a Thanksgiving slasher, so the fact that it’s one as idiosyncratic as this is reassuring.

    That’s NOT cranberry sauce btw

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

The first half is mostly just good fun, continuing the camaraderie between the cast, but aside from the Fantasticar fight, the second half of this reveals the aimless effect the antagonist (or lack thereof) has on the story. Cannot understand why this is regarded as better than the first.

I have actually defended Galactus being a cloud in the past because I think people need to be more open to comic characters not being exactly what they are in the…

    Pee-wee's Big Holiday

My dad and I argued about what to watch together tonight, neither us of in the mood for anything really, and both tired enough to just call it a night. But we landed on this, watched the trailer, let it play, and just sat there for 90 minutes and enjoyed ourselves.

Rocky IV: Rocky V Drago (Director’s Cut) (2021) REVIEW

When I found out that not only was Stallone revisiting and reediting Rocky IV, but that it would have a theatrical release, my hype was through the roof. As a huge Rocky fan, I have absolutely no shame in saying that I whole-heartedly love the original cut of Rocky IV. I acknowledge some of the flaws it has, be it the lack of Adrian, the dated styles of the time,…

  • The Bride of Frankenstein

    The Bride of Frankenstein

Don’t know what I was smoking when I gave this 4 stars.

Part of it I guess is because I’m SO attached to the Universal Monsters films that I did exclusively grew up with, so when I began to branch out a few years ago, I saw any ones new to me in my adolescence as inferior. What’s really odd about this is that Bride is just as iconic as all of the others, so that alone should have opened…

  • Eternals

    Some scattershot thoughts:

Chloe zhao stop breaking the 180 challenge

Take a shot every time they say Sersi

The way people yeet into space is laughable, the click and drag physics of flight in this is a thing to behold

The climax is sooooo uninvolving, and one of the only times a movie truly almost put me to sleep out of pure boredom in the theater. Gosh, the last 40 minutes of this are rough, in a smooth brain way. …

    Halloween II

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Michael Myers is not the boogeyman. At least, not in Rob Zombie’s eyes. A supernatural presence is a key ingredient to every Halloween film, from the ambiguity of the ‘78’s traditional tale, the Celtic rituals of Season of the Witch, and hell, all of the death defying sequels we get with Michael, stretching even as far as Resurrection. The real Boogeyman of Halloween II (2009) is the ghosts that haunt the Myers’, Angel and Michael. They’re haunting is bound by…

    Spooky Season Watches #54

Greatest ending in all of cinema, and I don’t think my opinion will ever change on that. The unrelenting evil shows up again, tirelessly, as Loomis finally intervenes and *does something*, and as an audience there’s no reason to question why a full round wouldn’t end this man’s life. But it doesn’t. And this is just the beginning... but the perfect end.

I know I’ve talked this film to death, but I got much more wholesome…
