This film gives us a continuously heartbreaking and gloomy picture of the truth behind the royals rules and the grief, bullying, harm and mental state Princess Diana experienced. Its very accurate, and it’s an important film to watch and as layer by layer reveals, my heart just breaks piece by piece.
I was really taken back by the absolutely stunning cinematography. The landscapes, beautiful mansion and focus on Princess Diana, was immensely and masterfully captured. Every shot has such precision, love and attention to detail to it. Regardless of what’s going on, my eyes were glued to the screen.
Though the technical aspects are faultless, the most important part of the movie, is the performance. If the performance would not have been great, the film wouldn’t have worked, and I can say with large confidence, it was the best performance of the year and I very highly doubt anyone will beat it.
The love, passion and hard work she into this film is extraordinary. Portraying a character based around such importance, and a character that is so multi-layered was never going to be easy and she nailed every scene she was in. Sally Hawkins was also great!
The sets, costumes and hair/make up designs were flawless. And the use of sound and music was brilliantly crafted and fitted with all the films sequences perfectly. As tensions rises, the music rises, as there’s something beautiful happening, so is the music.
The negative reviews I’ve seen from this are people that find it too ‘slow’, but it’s not supposed to be a film with thick plot, because not only will they not be allowed to show the inside after her death, but the end will never be known and that’s why the film is simply about the little knowledge we know, and the little life she had.
