Virtual Watch Party with the one and only Bruce Campbell!

Loved this event. Instead of just seeing the movie with Campbell’s commentary, you could actually see him in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

He’d sometimes pause the movie when he wanted to give some more info right before a key scene, answered a few questions from fans and, most impressively, seemed to actually enjoy watching and talking about Evil Dead II for what has to be…

One of the greatest horror films ever made or THE greatest horror film ever made? Those are your only two options.

My 100th movie for Horroctober IX. I have no life. It’s the sort accomplishment no one should be proud of and you don’t want mentioned in front of family.

Just between us though number 100 had to be special. I needed Bruce Campbell. I needed Sam Raimi. I needed to see Ted Raimi suffer in the Henrietta suit. I needed the movie that melted my teenage brain so many years ago. The mother…

My 4000th Letterboxd "review". The quotations are because I just prefer calling them film entries, because when I try to actually do a proper review it comes off as very cringy. That and I logged films where I don't talk all that much about the actual film.

Happy Birthday Sam Raimi! Watching Evil Dead 2 for the umpteenth time will have to hold me over as we're not getting a season of Ash vs Evil Dead this year (Season 3 hits in February 2018). I think this might make it my most watched movie since joining Letterboxd or tie it with Psycho.

After watching the season finale of Ash vs Evil Dead I felt obligated, and happily so, to watch Evil Dead II yet again. If you are a fan of the series, but more importantly if you are smart enough to realize that this is the best film of the series, then you really need to be watching the TV show.

In honour of seeing The Chin in person next week, we used that as a flimsy excuse to revisit the Evil Dead films. Wish I would have had Letterboxd at an early age so now I'd now how many times I've actually seen this film.

While I've already reviewed/logged the film a few times on LB, this viewing was a little special. This wasn't just a normal viewing of the greatest comedy horror of all time, Evil Dead II, but this was a viewing of it's German Blu-ray Extended Cut which contains 2 minutes and 39 seconds of extra footage! Mind Blown.

I know that sounds ridiculous to some, but others... others that 2 minutes and…

My original Letterboxd review can be read here.

My favorite Evil Dead film and possibly my favorite horror film. Happy to see (through the trailers anyways) that the remake takes a serious approach to the material because I can't imagine it coming close to the brilliance in this film if it tried being a horror/comedy. Now let's see what Evil Dead 2013 can do.

I love this film unabashedly. To get it out of the way upfront, I do prefer it over the original Evil Dead, but it is a ridiculously close call. The fact of the matter is I find it hard to compare the two films because I don't think they belong in the same "sub-genre". I won't argue with anyone who prefers the original though, because…
