They don’t make these kind of films anymore, but Rian Johnson makes it so much fun you’ll wonder why not. He pulled off an old school whodunit with little modern twists that date the movie in the here and now. Will the film feel dated 10 years from now? When it’s this good who cares.

It’s a stellar cast from beginning to end, but I gotta say that Ana de Armas outshines everyone. Wasn’t expecting to see such a great dramatic performance in a film this funny. The character of Marta just feels refreshing too in a world of film that feels like every character needs to be cynical.

If it wasn’t for her, I’d probably be saying that Daniel Craig was the standout. Detective Benoit Blanc feels like he has a rich history and makes you want to see a series of murder mystery films featuring him.

It was just so much god damn fun.
