A perfect sequel.
I loved the first John Wick so it's ridiculous that I've waited so long to watch it's sequel. I was worried it wouldn't live up to expectations. Fortunately I had nothing worry about because this movie rips. It's a film that's completely comfortable with the world that it inhabits and moves confidently within it. Rarely have I experienced a movie where you can almost hear it whispering the words.... "just go with it" into your ear.
And that is the best way to approach John Wick Part 2. It makes up it's rules with such authority that you'd never question them for a second.
Also, the action has been cranked up. The fights are a little robotic but the cinematography during the action is off the charts. The opening scene is beautifully baroque and the finale is a hallucinogenic kaleidoscope of mirrored images, neon lights and pumping music - this is party movie through and through....... just... you know.... a party where hundreds of people are getting shot in the face.
Overall, this was a brilliant movie and sets things up for an almost unbelievably ridiculous trilogy..... surely they can't pull this off, right??
I was a fool for waiting on this for so long - I wont make that same mistake come Part 3.
