Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

I'm still left shaken by the near-mythic formalism and gentle gestures. Salt-deserts left bleeding, rocks lifted into the sun, a montage of binding forces, broken masks and cracked spirits, the past finally being allowed to burn and evolve, ice clutching fingers in the black, and perhaps most beautifully, hands holding hands so very tightly.

The first time around I thought The Last Jedi was about shedding the past, but now I recognize the tension in between letting go of the bad and keeping the good, of letting the past play a part in constructing your cocoon, but only a part.
