Koyaanisqatsi ★★★★★

I was never blind to this film's weaknesses, though I'm certainly more cognizant of them -- and able to articulate them more clearly -- now than I was when I originally saw this film in 2000 or 2001. But it remains a breathtakingly remarkable achievement, and on a personal note, taught me more about the power of images and juxtaposition of same than any lecture on Eisenstein ever could have. Add to that that this was the film which introduced me to Philip Glass, the sense of discovery I felt finding it for the first time, and the pure, undeniable power of the images themselves, and this will never be a film I fail to give a perfect rating to, even acknowledging as I have that it's anything but.
