The Hurt Locker ★★★★

Powerful film about the damage war does to the human soul. At first, watching this, it seemed one-sided almost to the point of jingoism, but by the end I'd realized that was simply the nature of the film's laser focus on its subject. Like Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, this film isn't seeking to pass judgement on anything or anyone, on either side of the conflict. It's simply, as the saying goes, telling it like it is.
