Matthew Bowers’s review published on Letterboxd :
I hated this movie the first time I saw it. But I'm pretty sure I was in a terrible mood at the time, and I hadn't been expecting such a dark and nuanced story. I hadn't revisited it again until tonight, but over the years, looking back and reading various takes on it, I began to suspect that my initial impression hadn't quite been fair.
And indeed, seeing it again, I loved it. I'd remembered the twist, and I'd remembered Bowie as Tesla, but I'd forgotten nearly everything else. In a way, that was the perfect way to experience this film. Knowing what comes at the end, I was able to enjoy the hints in that direction, but I was also able to appreciate the beautiful cinematography and the elegant nested narrative structure as if I were seeing it for the first time.
Nolan's best film? Very possibly!
