It's hard for decent war films that don't just use ww1 as a excuse for action set pieces for their hero's but instead showing it for what it is a depressing waste of life while the people who make the decisions sit around talking about how terrible it is for them but this film does it. Came out of the theatre just like fuck that was depressing but amazingly done from the acting to cinematography to the score defo one of the better war films out there and easily see why it in the running for so many awards. Also I'm sure this isn't the first to do this but seeing a war films from the Germans pov is really interesting and soemthing I never really considered before.
