Chance Lee’s review published on Letterboxd:
Hereditary: The Summer Remix, feat. Florence Pugh, Midsommar hits all the same beats as the darker Hereditary, but with more sunshine, flowers, and wicked glee.
The beats I noticed: woman screaming with grief, graphic head mutilation, underdeveloped character with facial deformity, chanting circles of old naked people, immolation of unsupportive male significant other, glottal clicks and gasps, cultish symbols and rituals, and a happy ending in a twistedly specific way for at least one character amidst the bloodbath.
Destined to become my go-to summer feel-good movie.
