Chris M’s review published on Letterboxd:
the first half of this is a fun dumb movie, and the second half of this is a fake smart movie.
gets a bump for being a serviceable version of a kind of studio programmer we used to get way more (old man, cloud, etc.) — not to mention the performances being pretty uniformly great. but the script feels ultimately predicated on sketch comedy logic, and the satire is saturated with a shallow self-satisfaction that’s all… too clearly reminiscent of the work of a certain producer on the thing.
just like… guys. the version of this movie that’s THEATRE OF BLOOD in haute cuisine writes itself. it’s so easy! just do that!
