Still has that glorious 80s Carpenter atmosphere, from the wonderful score to the pungent grungy tone.
But unlike some of his horror work, Escape from New York can't quite rely on these alone and for me, cries out for much more energy and excitement.
But hey Carpenter's work usually grows on me more over time.
