  “so you are an adventurous imperialist.”

  the weaponized gender role / performance stuff, while frequently very intriguing, is focused on too much to the detriment of the imperialist/racial stuff going on, which is honestly the more thematically rich element of the story imo. feels kinda slight when all is said and done.

  spoiler!! 
  cronenberg should do another movie where jeremy irons psychosexually implodes and kills himself to complete the trilogy
