Rafael "Parker!!" Jovine’s review published on Letterboxd:
Those who have been following me for a while now have probably gotten tired of reading me saying how much I am all cool about horror movies that don't precisely have shivering and inducing me nightmares as long as the story and its execution are well done, I am all for it. A prime example of that is IT, a film that didn't have peeing my pants but I adore the filmmaking.
In many ways, this film falls within the same category. The jump scares and weak narrative hurts the movie in many ways, its technical work like cinematography and the way every death scene and gnarly, gory moments are done (especially the finger cutting one) were pretty effective on twisting my stomache. The performances for the most part are also pretty good.
All in all, while I get why many people totally dislike this, I would still give this one a try, just go with the lowest of expectations.
